What was Collins copying, not his singing and certainly not his costumes and make up?
Sorry Collins is his own man

What is progressive about progressive rock music? Is it something to do with progression through the keys or are they using 12 note rows or text scores? What is the progress about?

Because of his acting background, Collins will say himself that his early vocal performances in Genesis were basically him copying Gabriel as an actor would, as that is what he thought the singer in Genesis should sound like.

OK you Genesis fans:
Best singer / front man: Gabriel, Collins or Wilson?
Drummer: Collins, Thompson, or Nir Zidkyahu
Guitarists: Hackett, Rutherford, or Stuermer
Keyboards: Well there's only one really isn't there?

I was talking to someone who liked prog. He asked me if I liked it and I said that I liked Can and Neu. He said "Oh I don't like that cheesy stuff."

I'm with Jools fella on most of this. Most "prog", if I think I know to what you are referring, is interminable gash. Goblins of the netherworld overseeing mind control of the pixie children. On Ice. (Cue Mellotron solo in capes). Peter Gabriel's OK by me, so early Genesis get a free pass, but Yes get a huge No. Never really considered Pink Floyd prog in that bracket, somehow.
Are Can prog? Do they count?
Also, have always found it odd that few call Queen prog. 70s albums were "prog" as fuck. "Prophet's Song", "The Fairy Fella's Masterstroke", that sort of wibble. Weren't they "prog"? (Yes, I'm bored.)
